Episode Review - Boo.

'Boo' was written by Charles Eglee and Moira Kirkland Dekker. Few shows can pull off a quality Halloween episode. BUFFY has done it several times of course, but I can't think of another show that has done it right now. Now DARK ANGEL has joined BUFFY with this episode however. It's definitely a classic. Goes back to the fun of season one. After this episode, I'm starting to miss the fun of season one. Episodes like 'Art Attack'. Okay so that was really the only fun episode I can think of, but you know what I mean. They've eliminated the silly secondary storylines of the Jam Pony crew and it's episodes like this where I kind of miss those. But it's more fun to watch Max do something ridiculous than to watch Sketchy and Normal act like fools, which they are naturally.

So when did you figure out it was a dream? Be honest. I for one was pretty clueless the whole way through. I'm one of those people who just watch the show and form judgments later and thus I wasn't clued in until Logan and Asha claimed they saved the priest and wanted him to marry them. That was just too ridiculous to believe…even more ridiculous than a headless body able to live… Okay I need to be more questioning of my TV shows. I just thought of the talking head from the XENA episode and it made perfect sense to me.

Of course the second time I watch the episode, I picked up on tons of things that should have clued me in. Like Rafer dressed as a genetically engineered killing machine, that was a little too convenient. Then there was Max meeting Rafer's psychic mom who sees that Max has secrets which lead to death. Rafer's facial expressions during that segment were hilarious. A transgenic with cartilage instead of bones, is not out of the range of possibilities. Sharks have skeletons of cartilage after all. Of course, sharks swim in the ocean while people have to walk and run on ground, but it could still be feasible in Max's world. I guess with the body running off without the head and the head living without the body, I really should not have figured out that couldn't be real. But it was hilarious to watch. Then there was the other new trangenics, a cat woman and a gay lizard man with a life partner named Chad. And how they were all excited about the Haggis special, yuck, and of course Normal dressed up for 'Haggis Night'. Why I didn't get a clue I don't know.

I was doubtful of Normal being able to take those pictures at the restaurant however. He is just not that sly. And Normal as a leader of transgenic hunters who beat transgenics with bats and Sketchy as a willing subordinate, now that is an unlikely situation. Have I mentioned how I don't like Asha? So when I thought it was Asha and Logan kissing in crash, I was like 'go beat her ass, Max'. Luckily that was part of the dream. Then there was charades at Logan's and Logan playing bingo instead of listening to Max, why I didn't see completely through this I have no idea. Maybe I was just too caught up with the hilarity of it all. The talking head was pretty funny after all. This episode might have been too ridiculous for some, but I think it's just what DARK ANGEL needed right now. November sweeps are coming up and there will probably be some serious storylines to come.

Original Cindy was in peak form as usual in the episode, telling Max how it is. Max is really lucky to have her as a friend. And the theme of the dream was fitting. Max can't deny who she is or where she comes from. She can never have a normal life so why not embrace what she does have. I know I was mad when Max refused to take out Joshua for Halloween. The poor guy is cooped up all day reading books with no human interaction at all. The one night in the year where he can go outside without being too suspicious and Max refuses to take him out. Max was being selfish and Original Cindy called her on it. In the end, thanks to the dream, Max realized how selfish she was being and Joshua got to go out for a little 'tricks and treats'.

Next week, it looks like we get to meet one of Joshua's closest relatives and, oh, Alec's back…
