Episode Review - The Kidz Are Aiight.

Men!! Sometimes I just don't understand them. When Logan basically pushed Max out of his apartment at the end of the episode, I just wanted to somehow step through the television screen and slap him. Why did Logan feel it was necessary to push Max away at the end? Does he really think it would make a difference to Max if he couldn't walk? I know he's proud, but pride is not always a good or productive thing, and in this instance it's just plain stupid. Max had chosen to stay in Seattle, I might add for the second time, rather than be reunited with part of her family. She obviously cares about him. MEN!!

Now for the rest…'The Kidz Are Aiight' was penned by Rene Echevarria and Charles H. Eglee and was another stellar episode. Could it get any better than this? In most shows, I would say no, but Dark Angel has astounded me time and again so I do expect this one to be topped sometime this season.

The episode starts with Zack being tortured by Lydecker. We all knew Zack was alive, I was hoping he got free of Lydecker, but that was too much to hope for I guess. Lydecker is a defiantly a piece of work. He'll do anything to get his 'kids' back, and I mean ANYTHING! He's ruthless but most importantly, he's smart and he seems to have limitless resources. I'm interested in knowing more about who he works for exactly. Everyone noticed it was a 'she', right? Is she some sort of government official? Whatever the case, I think Lydecker truly believes that he is doing what is best for his country, however misguided that belief is. Villains, like Lydecker, who think they are doing the right thing, are the ones that terrify me most. They are so dedicated to a cause because they have a misguided belief that it is best for all, that they will hurt anyone to achieve that cause.

Back to business, sorry if this review is a bit choppy, but I have a lot to say and never got around to organizing my thoughts well. So I loved the scene with Logan and Max on the industrial beach. They are so cute! It's so obvious they both want more and now that Logan can walk, there seems to be nothing in the way. I found myself yelling 'KISS HER ALREADY' which of course he didn't. By the end of the episode, we knew something had to get in the way. Two things got in the way actually, first it was Zack showing up, then Logan seemingly losing feeling in his legs at the end and pushing Max away…I am STILL upset about that!!

So I had to watch a second time to be sure, but no more Jennifer Blanc? I've been out of it recently, as you might have noticed from my lack of reviews…btw sorry…but she wasn't listed in the credits, so I guess she's gone. I hate to be mean, but it doesn't bother me a bit. Maybe if Mr. Multiples had been someone other than Walter…EWW…I may have missed her, but as it is, they were doing absolutely nothing with her character so letting her go was a good idea, if that's what happened.

So with the removal of Kendra, Max needs a new roommate and who better than Original Cindy, right? The play at the beginning while Max and Logan were getting ready for their 'date' was great and very well put together. Their friends understand and see what has been happening between them, even if Max and Logan do not want to admit it. Also, it was a nice touch with the XENA poster in Original Cindy's room, I burst out laughing when I saw that one.

The return of Zack was great. I love William Gregory Lee and he is wonderful as Zack. He is appropriately strong and vulnerable and absolutely crazy for Max. The doctor, played by Rob Labelle, who tricked Zack is a regular on FIRST WAVE and I actually saw him at Paramount Studios when I was out there a week after this episode was aired. I was about to say something to him, when I realized it was not a good idea since I purposely lost my tour group and I was anxious not to draw attention to myself. He did a really great job as a doctor, so now I see he can be more than just a paranoid defender of mankind. He convinced me that he was helping Zack, but I guess I should have known better. Lydecker is smart, as I said earlier, really smart.

I loved the scenes in the cave with Max and Zack. There's no doubt that Zack does not see Max as a sister, out of all the X-5s, it was her he remembered and called in his most desperate hour. Of course, as a soldier, he would never let himself go there. He and Max cannot be together, he has duty to protect the other X-5's. Max is on her own, she's decided to stay in Seattle despite being vulnerable there, and Zack cannot support her decision, so at the end of the show he leaves her again. I doubt he's gone for good however.

So after lots of action and lots of heartache, we are back where we started, well almost. Max is still in Seattle with her friends, she again has no way to contact the other X-5's. However, now Logan and Eyes Only are on the radar for Lydecker. This is going to get ugly and I imagine the road ahead is going to get a lot rougher.
