It looks like the movie closest to JAMES CAMERON's heart will go on. The filmmaker's 1997 LEONARDO DiCAPRIO/KATE WINSLET semi-fictional smash, 'Titanic,' is being resurrected from its watery depths -- at least in the form of a video Webcast of the sunken luxury liner's real-life remains! Earthship.TV (www.earthship.tv), a new broadband entertainment site, has begun streaming video of Cameron's recent return to the real R.M.S. Titanic's wreckage 400 miles east of Newfoundland. The director previously filmed the ship's ruins for the Oscar-winning 'Titanic''s opening segment, but this time he got to shoot areas we've never seen before, including private staterooms and crew quarters. The footage is for Cameron's first large-format (3-D) feature film, 'Ghosts of the Abyss,' which will be released next year. "As an explorer, I'm excited to view parts of Titanic that have never been seen since the tragedy," says Cameron, referring to the night of April 15, 1912, when the famed ship sunk in the icy waters of the North Atlantic. Also on board for the return mission was BILL PAXTON, the 'Titanic' co-star who served as a crewmember on the 'Ghosts' trip. And the exploration was a family affair for Cameron: The web broadcast was conceived by younger brother JOHN DAVID CAMERON, while Jim's older sibling, MIKE CAMERON, served as chief designer of the ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) camera system that captured the capsized ship in vivid detail. Cameron also enlisted the aid of some of his star vehicles from 'Titanic' the movie. Making a return engagement in 'Ghosts of the Abyss' are Keldysh, the Russian research vessel seen in the 1997 film, and Mir, the submersible (underwater vessel) that lets visitors take the 13,400-foot plunge to the ill-fated luxury liner's resting place on the ocean floor.
